Eternal life in the Bible

What does the Bible say about eternal life? Eternal life in the Bible. It’s a Love Story

The gift of eternal life begins with a love story. God’s love story to mankind!

It begins with a Bible verse that many people have clung to for generations.

Eternal Life in the Bible

When I think about eternal life, I think about how much we are loved. God loved us so much that he gave his Son over to sinful man.

There he would endure much affliction and die on the cross so that we would one day be able to reign in Heaven forever.

Eternal life in the Bible

Does eternal life begin the moment that we die? The answer to that question is no. Eternal life and eternal salvation begins the moment that we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

It is true that we will all have to die a physical death but we will never spiritually die.

The Bible says, eternal life in the bible

Therefore, our loved ones that have died a physical death are now in the presence of Jesus! Can you imagine that? That must be so wonderful! They are in a place where there will never experience anymore sickness, tears, or sadness.

They are now walking down the golden streets of Heaven. We also will one day be reunited with them if we believe as well.

With that said, I am reminded of a story in the Bible about Nicodemus. One day Nicodemus walked up to Jesus and asked him, what must I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again.

Nicodemus was confused and wondered how he could enter his mother’s womb twice? However it was not about being born twice by a physical birth, rather Jesus was talking about being born in a spiritual sense. Once you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you are spiritually born into His family.

Accepting the Gift

Eternal Life is a blessing if you are willing to accept this free gift that God offers. However; everyone has a choice if they want to accept it or not. For example: Imagine someone bought you a birthday present, handed it to you, and you accept it!

You begin to unwrap it and decide it is one of the nicest gifts that anyone has ever given to you. However;

  • you could have looked at that person and said that you didn’t want it.
  • You could have demanded that they take it back to the store!
  • You could have demanded this because you did nothing to deserve their kindness or their gift.
  • You could have even thrown this gift straight into the trash and walked away.

This is what we do to God sometimes. We treat his gift of eternal life like we don’t deserve it and to a degree we really don’t! But we shouldn’t throw the gift away when He tries to give it to us in love.

So what does the Bible say about eternal life? It’s the greatest love story ever told! It is when Jesus hung on the cross, stretched out his arms, and died. He loved us that much!!!
